Case Study: Cognito, Newbury

Cognito Ltd is a leading provider of mobile workforce solutions, based in Newbury, Berkshire.

In March 2014, BHP Project Management delivered the refurbishment and relocation of Cognito’s 140 staff and services to new office space at Rivergate House in Newbury’s premier business park.

Unoccupied, dark and dated 1980s’ cellular offices were transformed to a modern, fresh and open plan office environment, maximising the new office’s access to natural light.

Now a dazzling reception area, conference rooms, meeting rooms, staff kitchen, tea point, break-out areas, print and copy areas provide Cognito with an enhanced, flexible workspace.

Quality is also demonstrated by the inclusion of curved effect Komfort polar double glazed partitioning system, complementing other high-end features, such as the lighting and the redesigned Reception.

The Cognito project also involved additions to building services, including lighting, ventilation and fire alarms, demanded by the changes to floor layouts and new facilities.

And, with time of the essence, weekend and after-hours working ensured that the client’s deadline was never in doubt.

Cognito Finance Director, Clare Rolfe, says:

‘BHP’s experience was invaluable through an intense six month period of relocating the company within Newbury. They were able to introduce us to key contacts such as our designer, and were instrumental in helping choose and monitor our fit-out contractor. This was crucial as the project had to be completed in a tight timescale, including working through the Christmas period. They assisted with a range of legislation, of which we had limited experience, and remained consistent and approachable throughout. The after-care is also to be commended, with BHP being available for inevitable queries and liaison with external contractors as we settled into our new premises.’
